Computer Purchase Selector - which computer platform is best for you?

Quick answer is.. buy a Mac.  Now since most people use computers primary for web browsing.. Software availability isn't really much of an issue anymore... the Mac platform has always been "slicker" than and will likely make you happier than a Windows PC platform.   Macs can be comparability more expensive, but still, they are less expensive than computers we were buying not so long ago. For more specific situations.. follow the questions below.

Are you a "regular person"? 

Buy a Mac that fits your budget.

Are you a gamer or need really powerful processing?

Buy a Windows based PC (if money isn't a problem.. you could still by a Mac for power processing.)

Are you a computer hobbyist.. Did you use computers before most people you knew were using them?

Build a system out of stock parts and install Linux.  Use primarily non-commercial open source style software.
