Law 

Law, is about action and result.  Laws are often discovered and recorded.  Laws of thermodynamics, laws of gravity, laws of motion.   Knowing laws you can know beforehand an end result of a particular situation.  The laws of the land are similar.  Though the laws we make are sometimes "artificial" they often echo natural laws and do provide the function of knowing in advance the outcome of a particular action or situation.  God knows all the laws of the universe, he made the universe, he knows all the workings of it.  He knows the end results of various situations.  He shared these laws with us so that we can know before hand the outcome of various situations.  By knowing the laws God has shared with us we can avoid bad situations and bad outcomes. Knowing Gods laws we are able to choose actions and situations with positive outcomes.
