Enjoy your Livelihood

Even if you try to reduce the amount of time you need for maintaining your livelihood.  It's likely going to be a significant amount of your time and it's going to be a challenge... It says in Genesis 3 after man sinned...."Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground".  I read that to mean... that it's going to be painful, tough and never ceasing to provide for your livelihood.  Though also God also told man in Genesis 1, before man sinned... to "subdue" the earth.  Now to subdue is to conquer, to bring under control.. challenging things that aren't necessarily easy.  And remember this is before man sinned.  So difficulty isn't necessarily bad.  Actually I would say it is good, it's that now there's a lot of pain and tedium mixed in with our mission to conquer. So though things may be more difficult now then originally planned, there is still enjoyment to be had within the task of livelihood and subduing.

This is something that you're going to be spending a lot of time doing.  And it will likely never be completely without it's "thorns and thistles." But you can find a livelihood method that has much personal satisfaction and enjoyment.  It is difficult to stress this enough.  If you will be spending what feels like most of your time doing something, it should be something you really enjoy. Do not be allured by financial gain... this choice is often for having more things.. better things.. not a choice of being able to eat and have shelter.  How much good is all those extra things if you don't enjoy most of the time you are awake!

Ask yourself this... Which is my favorite day of the work week... is it the first day of the work week or the last?  Ask yourself.. do you ever go to bed excited, finding it hard to sleep because you just can't wait for the morning to come so you can get back to work.
